Dr. Mufti Khalil Ahmed Aazami

Dr. Mufti Khalil Ahmed Aazami is a Shari’ah Scholar with over 20 years of extensive and diverse experience in the fields of research, Islamic finance & banking, Takaful, and general Islamic sciences. Dr. Aazami completed his Aalamia (an 8 year course equivalent to Masters in Arabic & Islamic Studies) from Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi, and thereafter received Fatwa & research training for 3 years under the tutelage of Mufti Taqi Usmani.
Dr. Aazami went on to obtain a Doctorate in Islamic Jurisprudence from Karachi University.
Dr. Aazami currently serves on the Shari’ah boards of Abu Dhabi Group backed Bank Alfalah, Government owned National Bank of Pakistan, and Faysal Bank – a subsidiary of Bahrain based Ithmaar Bank. He is also an advisor to Takaful Pakistan and member of AAOIFI sub-committee, and various committees of the State Bank of Pakistan and Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan.
Mufti Muhammad Mohib Ul Haq Siddiqui

Mufti Mohib Ul Haq Siddiqui is a graduate of Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi where he obtained his Shahada tul Aalamia (an 8 year course equivalent to Masters in Arabic & Islamic Studies) and 3 years of research & Fatwa experience under the supervision of Mufti Taqi Usmani. With 19 years of experience in the field of Islamic banking & finance he has served on the Shari’ah Boards of Royal Bank of Scotland (Berhad, Malaysia), JS Investments, Takaful Pakistan, and various other organizations.
Currently he is serving on the Shari’ah Boards of Faysal Bank - a subsidiary of Bahrain based Ithmaar Bank, Bank Alfalah - a venture of Abu Dhabi Group, and Bank AL-Habib.
Mufti Mohib is also a member of the State Bank of Pakistan’s Committee for Shari’ah review, standardization of Islamic products and processes and formalization of AAOIFI Shari’ah standards
Mufti Najeeb Khan

Mufti Najeeb Khan is a reputed expert in the field of Islamic Finance and holds a degree of specialization (Takhassus) from Jamia Darul Uloom, Karachi. He is serving on the Shariah advisory boards of Summit Bank, UBL Islamic Funds and Pak Oman Islamic Funds. Additionally, he has been a member of various supervisory and advisory boards of SECP, SBP, Government of Sindh, ICAP, PSQCR and several financial institutions in Australia. As an academic and trainer he has professional affiliations with NIBAF, IDB, IBA, LUMS, UoK, Halal committee of OIC and is also serving as the Principal of Hira Foundation School. He is also a member of the advisory board for designing Islamic School curriculums – Ummah Relief International – U.S.A, Lecturer – U.M.M.A Centre, Victoria, Australia, Lecturer – Islamic Centre, Monash University, Australia and Senior Member of Majlis Ulama – Australia etc.
Mufti Bilal Ahmed Qazi

Mufti Bilal Ahmed Qazi completed his Aalamia (an 8 year course equivalent to Masters in Arabic & Islamic Studies) from Jamiah-tul-Uloom Ul-Islamiyah, Banori Town.
He received research & Fatwa training in Jamia Daul Uloom Karachi for 3 years. Mufti Bilal obtained his MBA from IBA Karachi. He has been working as a research associate at Darul Ifta - Jamia Darul Uloom Karchi where he has researched and written over 2,000 fatawa on various topics which have been approved by the likes of Mufti Taqi Usmani, Mufti Mahmood Ashraf.
Mufti Bilal also served as the Resident Shari’ah Scholar for Meezan Bank – The largest Islamic bank of Pakistan from 2006 till 2015, and NAFA Islamic Mutual Funds. Currently he is on the Shari’ah Boards of Al Baraka Bank (previously Emirates Global), Soneri Bank, & Summit Bank. Mufti Bilal is also a part of the faculty at Centre for Islamic Economics, Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre, and IBA-CEIF.
Dr. Zeeshan Ahmed
Technical Member - Finance & Course Design
Dr Zeeshan started his career as a Management Consultant at Fergusons Associates in 1995 where he worked on a number of projects like financial forecasting, proposing tariff structure, designing financial reporting and internal control systems, financial analysis and financial systems re-engineering. He has taught Finance & Accounting courses, MBA and Undergraduate Programmes at various reputed institutions like IBA, Suleman Dawood School of Business, LUMS, and Mississippi State University, USA. His research interests include Earnings Management, Privatisation, Financial Intermediation and Islamic Finance.
Currently, he serves as the Dean of Karachi School of Business and Leadership.
Mr. Waqas Ahmed
Technical Member - Takaful & Strategy
Mr. Waqas Ahmad is a seasoned business professional with over 28 years of experience in Takaful and insurance. His expertise lie particularly in Strategy and planning, product development, Underwriting, Customer services/experience, Re-Takaful, Budgeting, Inspections & Evaluation, Compliance, Business system acquisition and implementation ,Training, Service Quality and Operations.Hewas associated with Pakistan’s insurance giant State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan for more than a decade. He has also worked with the leading takafulGroup Pak-Qatar Family Takaful, AlRajhi Takaful KSA at senior level positions. His last assignment was as COO at Pak-Qatar family Takaful. Currently He is Executive Director Strategy and planning with Takaful Pakistan Limited.
During his career Mr. Waqas has led various projects, departments and teams and was instrumental in initiating and implementing several Strategic and operational projects successfully. He holds BSc degree in Mathematics/Physics and MBA in Marketing He also obtained a Post graduate Diploma in Islamic Finance from CIE -Darul Uloom Karachi. He is a Fellow of Life Management Institute, Associate – Customer Service USA. In addition, he qualified/attended many certifications/seminars on Insurance/takaful/Management subjects. He has experience in training/teaching and Takaful at various forums/Institutions. He has recently agreed to give some time to Safwa Advisory as Technical Advisor on Strategy and Takaful.
Mufti Abdul Hadi
Mufti Muhammad Abdul Hadi is a Sharia Scholar. After the memorization of the Holy Quran, he completed his Masters in Islamic Studies and Arabic, thereafter he completed his specialization in Fatwa from Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi Pakistan under the supervision of renowned Sheikh Justice (Rtd.) Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani Hafizahullah.
Mufti Abdul Hadi also holds a Diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance from Centre of Islamic Economics (a division of Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi) and has completed his apprenticeship in Meezan bank – The largest Islamic bank in Pakistan. He also holds a Halal Lead Auditor Certificate from Halaal Foundation, a Halal certification body based in Pakistan.
Currently, Mufti Abdul Hadi resides in Chatham, Ontario where he is an Associate Advisor with Safwa. He is also as a member of Sharia Experts Board for Center for Halal Assurance.
Sheikh Mohammad Owais
Muhammad Owais completed his hifz from Karachi and then moved on to complete his Aalamiyyah. He graduated from Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi in 2013 where he studied under the guidance of the likes of Justice Retd. Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, Mufti Muhammad Rafi Usmani, and Dr. Imran Ashraf Usmani.
He has over 6 years of working in the finance department of a private company. He now serves as an Associate Advisor under the supervision of Safwa’s Advisory Panel and also serves as a Business Development Executive.
Mufti Abdullah Awan completed his Alamiyah course in Jamia-tul-Ilm Wal-huda (Blackburn, UK). After his graduation he completed his specialization in Fatawa from Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi Pakistan under the supervision of renowned Sheikh Justice (Rtd.) Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani. Thereafter, he returned to the UK and obtained a BA(Hon) in Oriental Studies and an MA in Islamic Banking Finance and Management from Newman University (Birmingham, UK).
Abdullah is currently pursuing an MSc degree in Islamic Finance from the University of Dundee (Scotland) and he is also working on a research project entitled ‘The neo-classical economic theory of marginal utility within the framework of Maqasid al-Shariah.’
Abdullah represents Safwa in the U.K and in the EU.
